Walking Through the Three Frontiers

Every journey is driven by a love of life. GLA’s annual Global Exploration Tour is once again underway, taking us to the dreamlike Northwest China, the romantic state of Sabah, and the vibrant Turkey—this time, we’ve set foot on three lands, each boasting its own unique landscapes and cultural charm.

 

• 01 - Dreamlike Northwest China •

 

Starting in Xining, we cross the provinces of Qinghai and Gansu, traverse the uninhabited wilderness, and retrace the ancient Silk Road. On this magical land, every seemingly incompatible landscape comes together: vast deserts, barren gobi plains, cave temples, red-rock cliffs, snow-capped mountains, serene lakes, sprawling grasslands, and majestic monasteries…

 

• 02 - Romantic Sabah •

 

Sabah is Malaysia’s second-largest state, located at the northern tip of Borneo—the world’s third-largest island—and boasts a rich and extraordinary array of natural ecosystems, including ever-changing, pristine tropical rainforests. Perhaps designers are particularly drawn to island getaways, where they can momentarily escape the rigid constraints of work and savor a sense of freedom and relaxation.

 

• 03 - Splendid Turkey •

 

Around stone pillars that have weathered millennia, through softly lit streets at dusk, dancing to vibrant music, bathed in the shimmering play of light and shadow within the Blue Mosque, listening to the roar of waves and counting the stars through the night... Here, in the world capital cherished by Napoleon, in the timeless imperial city straddling Europe and Asia, cradled by three seas, on the continent where Turkic warriors penned a legendary tale of stars and crescents—this is the dazzling yet enigmatic Turkey.

We’re still young, eager to set out on the road—carrying that original passion, chasing our first dreams, and savoring those first experiences. We’ve been on the journey all along…
