Hangzhou Haichao Kindergarten

The site for this project covers 5,338 square meters and is planned as the new campus of Xingzhi Kindergarten. Xingzhi Kindergarten is a well-established institution with a long history, widely recognized for its educational approach and renowned for its distinctive insights into early childhood education. Through candid dialogue with the client and extensive, long-term observation of young children’s daily routines, the design team developed the concept of “sunlight, fresh air, and open play spaces,” fundamentally reimagining the conventional, static spatial configuration of traditional kindergartens. Rather than positioning the building itself as the central focus, the design prioritizes providing children with ample sunlight, natural ventilation, and safe, inclusive outdoor play areas—all within a constrained budget.
