The project is located on the south side of Hebei West Avenue and the west side of Chengdong Street in Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, with the Hutuo River to the south. Our approach to urban advancement Having conducted an interpretation of the cultural context and distilled the traditional elements, we arrive at the three-part structure of Chinese ancient architecture: the base, the building body, and the roof. The historic buildings of Zhengding City predominantly feature pitched roofs; the eaves and dougong brackets are integral components of the building body; and the façade palette of traditional Chinese architecture is primarily black, white, and gray. In our contemporary reinterpretation of these traditional elements, we have pursued both inheritance and evolution—through spatial continuity, formal persistence, abstracted articulation of key architectural nodes, and refined tonal harmonies. In this way, we maintain a dialogue with the historic urban fabric in terms of proportion, materials, roofing, and detailing, while also engaging in a meaningful conversation with the nearby new district of Zhengding.
