Wuzhishan Rainforest Resort

The project is located in Wuzhishan, Hainan, on a site shaped like an elongated crescent, with an average slope of 20–31°. The site abuts the mountainside; however, beyond a certain elevation, unobstructed views open up to the south. Situated at the westernmost edge of the development, the plot is narrow and long, resembling a crescent, and its steep gradient precludes a continuous fire-access loop. Building heights are capped at 24 meters. Rather than rigidly adhering to standard regulations for urban hotels or large resort properties, the design seeks to harmonize circulation patterns with the site’s specific topography, placing primary emphasis on the organization of spatial sequences, the creation of atmosphere, and the experiential engagement with the hotel’s environment and resources—culminating in a distinctive arrival route and a striking, iconic spatial landmark.
