The library is situated at the northwest corner of Wuhan’s Huashan Ecological New City, on the site of a once-fertile wetland. The design features five staggered, lightweight, and minimalist volumes that are thoughtfully dispersed across the landscape, gently and respectfully engaging with the existing ecological setting while maximizing the preservation of the original natural scenery.
Stretching from east to west, five boxes of varying sizes house distinct functions and feature diverse façade expressions. As one drives along the route, the sequence unfolds horizontally, with the outer boxes clad in glass curtain walls paired with backlit shading roller blinds, gradually projecting outward toward the center. At the heart of the sequence, the central exhibition hub serves as the compositional climax, enveloped in a full-height, aerodynamic aluminum-panel curtain wall that exudes an ethereal beauty.
